If you’ve ever attended an industry training event, chances are you’ve heard all about the importance of becoming a “mortgage expert.” Sound familiar? While that’s true, it’s only one part of the success puzzle. Over the years, I’ve come to realize there’s a lot more to it than that. You see, you could be the most knowledgeable “mortgage guru” in your city, with a long string of alphabet soup credentials behind your name, and that still doesn’t guarantee people are going to be banging down your door to do business with you. In other words, it doesn’t matter how great your technical skills are or how ground-breaking your loan products are, your business will wither away and die like 80% of all mortgage professionals if you can’t market and sell your services....

Why most mortgage broker’s marketing sucks.

If every dollar you spend on marketing isn’t generating more than that amount, then your marketing sucks. Don’t believe me? Let me to prove it to you. I recently received an email from an ex-coaching member who asked to be removed from our email list because she’s leaving the business. She explained that, “It’s not worth it and I may have a very nice ‘paying’ job that has more of a ‘consistent’ income which for me is very important.” Sound familiar? What’s interesting, is that just a few months prior she had cancelled her marketing training membership saying she was just “too busy” to take advantage of it. Now, three months later she’s throwing in the towel – not because she’s not a great mortgage broker, not because she doesn’t love the business, but because her marketing sucks! ...

The Success Cycle: How to Go from Sales Slump to Sales Star!

I was at the park the other day with my wife, Michaela, and my two kids, Kiara (3 yrs) and Ezra (7 months). After chasing Kiara around for a while I decided to sit down and take a much needed rest.
