I just recently discovered a simple truth that has literally transformed my energy from living in fear and self-doubt to purpose, passion and freedom - where I feel totally authentic in who I am and powerful in my ability to contribute to others. It’s simply this: the more I face my fears and stretch myself to contribute at a higher level, the greater my confidence and the smaller my fears become. In fact, fear is the only thing in the universe that gets smaller the close you move towards it....

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010Why most loan originators fail – and very few succeed!
Monday, October 11th, 2010As you know, last month was “Back to School” month. As students began filing back into classrooms all over the world I couldn’t help but be reminded of how important it is to be a lifelong learner and continue to grow – not just in general knowledge, but more importantly, in character, wisdom and skill. We live in the “Information Age” where information is more ubiquitous than ever. We’re perpetually inundated with information through our TV sets, computers, radios, newspapers, iPads, iPods, iPhones, Crackberries, you name it. We’ve got info up the wazoo! One would think that since “information is power” – like they teach us in school – this rising tide of information must be lifting the human race into higher and higher levels of health, wealth and happiness. While I’d love to believe that, I still find myself confronted with the startling statistics showing a steady global increase (per capita) in cancer, AIDS, obesity, diabetes, ADHD, bankruptcy, suicide, divorce, Prozac prescriptions, etc. How do you account for all that? Is more information really the answer? As Anthony Robbins once said, “We’re drowning in information but we’re starving for wisdom.” I couldn’t agree more....

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010I was at the park the other day with my wife, Michaela, and my two kids, Kiara (3 yrs) and Ezra (7 months). After chasing Kiara around for a while I decided to sit down and take a much needed rest. From my command post I was able to chat with Michaela and watch Kiara at the same time – sweet deal! About that time, I noticed some other parents arriving with their kids. While I was talking to Michaela, a man came over and said, “Are you Doren Aldana?” I said, “Yes,” wondering who this person could possibly be. He said, “I’m one of your coaching members and he introduced himself. Rarely do I ever meet any of my members in person in my own neighborhood, so I took this special opportunity to hang out and learn more about his business....

Friday, April 9th, 2010I recently emailed a relatively well known mortgage/real estate trainer (who I will keep unnamed) to see if he might be interested in being featured as a guest expert on my “Meetings with Mortgage Masters” interview series. He replied back asking if I’d like to meet him in-person the next time he comes to Vancouver. Not wanting to wait that long to do an interview I asked him if he’d be open to having a quick chat on the phone. He replied, asking if I was available to talk on Friday. As you may know, I don’t work Fridays and haven’t for years, so I asked him if another day would work. Now, here’s where the story gets interesting.

7 Essential Steps to Effective Time Management
Monday, March 15th, 2010One of the most common questions we’ve been receiving from our members lately is, “How can I use my time more effectively?” The fact that so many of you are asking about this tells me it’s something we need to address. A good question deserves a good answer. But before I answer it, let me say this: You can’t manage time, you can only manage yourself within time. We all have the same twenty-four hours in a day. How we use those hours will determine our degree of success or failure in life. That’s why I believe time management is one of the most important skills to master.
